Have you ever seen the movie Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken? It was made in the 90's and it's about a country girl who joins the circus, jumps horses off high dives into tiny pools. She ends up going blind, but she doesn't give up. Even though no one thinks she can, she learns to jump blind. I loved this movie passionately as a little girl. It has adventure, feminine heroism, and maybe even a handsome co-star. What else does a girl need? Anyways...... back to my point. The name always stuck with me. It gave me the feeling that we can accomplish anything, no matter how silly, fool hearted, or impossible.
In January 2015, we started on our own adventure. We sure had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. With no farming experience we moved from an apartment in West Seattle to the outskirts of Tacoma, to a 5 acre farm. Our farm included a main house, a MIL (where my mom lives), 3 outbuildings, and a barn. It needed lots of TLC, but thankfully, that is the only thing we cant run out of. Our farm is over 100 years old and full of history. I'm a sucker for history.
So here we are. Our family includes my mom, myself (Jodall), Jason, two wild boys, a few dogs, a few cats, and plenty of barn animals. We love to spend time gardening, preserving fresh veggies, and tending our animals. Kids spend their hours looking for tadpoles, swinging from trees, and running through fields of tall grass. Sometimes I have to pinch myself. A little slice of heaven, right here on earth.
